ImageGallery and QuickSubmit: The New Shortcut to Production

In many print shops, every incoming file goes through the same routine: open it, choose the environment, set position and size, submit. The new ImageGallery with QuickSubmit turns that routine into a single step, with the complete production setup applied automatically.

Designed for modern production environments, the redesigned ImageGallery combines improved usability, enhanced preview capabilities, and greater workflow flexibility in a single workspace. Splitter panes and tab management replace floating thumbnail windows, thumbnails gain extra-large preview sizes with improved HighDPI support, and galleries can be created directly from Windows folders via drag and drop. ImageGallery also serves as a central browser for images, production-ready Ergosoft Jobs (PPJ), and archived production jobs (PJA), making it easy to locate, reuse, edit, and reproduce previous work.

The new QuickSubmit feature combines HotFolders, JobPresets, and ImagePresets into one production workflow.

One or multiple images can be submitted from ImageGallery directly into predefined HotFolder processes, while Composite JobPresets automatically apply the complete configuration, including Print and Cut Environments, Position Templates, and automated image processing rules. Operators apply an entire production setup in a single step, with less manual setup and fewer opportunities for error.

Whether users prefer JobComposer-based production, HotFolder automation, or a simple drag-and-drop workflow, Ergosoft RIP now supports virtually every production approach, from manual operation to full automation through the Delta REST API.

The PrintQueue That Counts: Media Counter and SafePrint

The amount of media left on a roll or in a sheet stack is usually known to the operator who loaded it, not to the system that prints on it. The new Media Counter brings that knowledge into the PrintQueue, and SafePrint uses it to keep unattended production from stopping halfway through a job.

The new Media Counter extends the PrintQueue with practical media inventory tracking for roll and sheet production. Remaining media is monitored continuously, with warning and critical thresholds, visual status indicators, and consumption management based on job and copy production. A large QuickCorrect button with configurable correction steps accounts for media consumed during maintenance, setup, calibration, or test printing.

SafePrint uses Media Counter information to verify jobs before production starts. Jobs that would exceed the configured media reserve are paused automatically, while shorter jobs continue, reducing interruptions during unattended printing. Media Counter values can also be exported automatically as CSV tickets for inventory systems, production tracking, and label printing directly on media rolls.

Further queue enhancements include Media Type Filters by manufacturer and category, Clone Column Layout for consistent views across systems, drag-and-drop queue prioritization, and drag-and-drop Job Archive reconstruction to JobComposer.

A Smarter Foundation for Production Data

Media information tends to live in several places at once: in the RIP, in a spreadsheet, in the ERP, in the operator's head, and rarely in the same form. The Winter Release establishes one shared media definition that queues, Print Environments, and cost calculation all draw from.

Production data is most valuable when it stays consistent throughout the workflow. The Winter Release introduces a Global Media Type List with Category and Manufacturer attributes, a built-in Media Type Reference Database, and consistent media definitions shared across RIP modules. A centralized Reference Media Size Database, extended tab-separated import and export formats, and custom Media Size Preset exchange between RIP systems simplify standardization across installations.

CostManager builds on this foundation with an enhanced Media Type Assignment tab, category- and manufacturer-aware filtering, and direct access to the reference database. The enhanced Area Printer Cost Calculator accepts common datasheet specifications such as m²/hour or linear feet/hour together with the hourly operating cost and calculates the area-based cost factor automatically.

Print Environment Refinements and Valuable Mentions

As production setups grow, so does the number of environments, and with it the effort to keep track of what each one contains and why it was configured that way. Print Environments now describe themselves, with auto-generated, exportable documentation and a clearer layout of settings.

The Print Environment now provides direct access to the new Media Type and Media Size databases within a consolidated Media tab. The redesigned General tab auto-generates environment descriptions summarizing profiles, media, print modes, and device settings, supports configurable naming rules, and exports descriptions for documentation and knowledge sharing. Tabs have been reorganized, terminology streamlined, and the interface refined across nearly all areas.

Further enhancements include:

• an Installation Transfer Guide for migrating complete installations to new PCs,
• Image Mask presets for micro-perforation and one-way vision patterns,
• an enhanced gamut warning with an additional warning level and configurable colors and tolerances,
• and Target Density Curves for all color channels beyond CMYK, extending CGATS-based imports (G7, SCTV and other third-party targetcurves).
